Rapid Coatings in Woburn, MA has been selected as a conformal coating partner of Alternative Manufacturing, Inc (AMI) in Winthrop, ME for a product used in the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines. The product is a continuous, real time logging device used to record and document the temperature of the Covid vaccine vials as they move through the distribution channel. This is a critical piece of information required to maintain the integrity and safety of the vaccine.
Due to the critical worldwide importance of the vaccine and high volume of tracking devices required, AMI assembled a team of sub-contractors to meet product demand. Rapid Coatings began coating the product in the fall of 2020.
As demand increased, Rapid purchased and installed a fully automated conformal coating line that utilizes coating machines manufactured by PVA (Halfmoon, NY). The automated coating line has been in continuous production since February 2021.
